This is an estimate. The browser only exposes accelerated cursor movement, so for the closest reading turn off mouse/pointer acceleration ("Enhance pointer precision" on Windows) and set display scaling to 100%. Fractional scaling (125% / 150%) skews the result. Measure a few times and use the average.

DPI — dots per inch — is how far your cursor travels for every inch you move the mouse: at 800 DPI, one inch of hand movement sends the pointer 800 pixels across the screen. It's the biggest factor in how fast your mouse feels, yet the advertised figure isn't always what the sensor delivers — real output often deviates a few percent from the number on the box, and some budget mice miss by more.
The analyzer compares a known physical distance against the movement your mouse reports. Enter your DPI and a distance, pick a direction, then click and hold in the test area and slide the mouse exactly that far along a ruler before releasing. It sums the movement counts as they climb toward the target, then divides them by the inches travelled to give your actual DPI and the deviation from what you entered. Everything runs locally in your browser.
A deviation within a few percent is normal — sensor tolerance, mouse feet, and surface texture all nudge the count. What matters is knowing your real figure: effective sensitivity (eDPI) is mouse DPI times in-game sensitivity, and that's what decides how fast your aim feels. Once you know your true DPI, you can match a pro's eDPI exactly or carry your muscle memory across games with different sensitivity scales.
